Email countdown ticker

Fill in the steps, check the preview, then copy the ticker into your email. Everyone who opens the email sees the time left at that moment, counting down.

Words

Shown before the time. Leave it empty to show only the time.

The page that opens when someone taps the ticker, usually the collection.

Shown instead of the ticker when images are turned off. If you leave it empty, the grey text above is used.

When it ends

Midnight at the start of a day is 12:00 AM on that day.

How long the ticker keeps moving while the email is open. After that it stops on the last second; opening the email again shows the current time. Longer makes the image bigger (about 20 KB a minute).

Look

Start from

Sets the colours and spacing in one go. You can still change anything after.

Digit height in px, 10 to 40. 14 matches the website.

Lining makes every number the same height.

Position

Spacing

Space in px on each side of the ticker. Inside uses the background colour, Outside the outside colour.

Inside

Your email's own background, usually white (ffffff).

Tip: if the blocks below the ticker sit in from the edges of the email, give Outside left and right the same space they have, so everything lines up.

After it ends

Shown in place of the time once the deadline passes. Leave it empty to show 00 : 00 : 00 : 00. A long message is drawn smaller so it fits.

Preview

Ends Wed 21 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM PDT, which is 06:59 UTC on 22 Oct. 12 days 23 hours left. It keeps counting for 1 minute while the email is open.

After it ends

Then paste it into an HTML block in your email, where the ticker should go.

How to add it to your email
  1. Open the email in your email editor.
  2. Add a block for your own HTML where the ticker should go:
    • Klaviyo: HTML block
    • Shopify Email: Custom Liquid section (on a computer)
    • Mailchimp: Code block
    • Omnisend: Custom HTML block
Do not use an image block: it copies the picture once and the time stops moving.
  3. Click inside the block, paste (Ctrl + V, or Cmd + V on a Mac) and save.
  4. Send yourself a test email and open it. The ticker should count down. Open it again a few minutes later: the time should have moved on.

Good to know: the ticker stops moving after the time set in step 2, and starts again from the right time whenever the email is opened again. Some Outlook versions on Windows show it without moving, and Apple Mail can show the time from when the email arrived. Say the end date in words somewhere in the email too.
